Flight-Line Mazda always gets excited when we hear about the upcoming release of new Mazda models. Therefore, we were even more elated to come across plans for the debut of, not one, but four newly redesigned models. All four will find their place in the automotive market by 2014 and will be developed under a new Mazda design language.

First in the lineup will be the latest in the CX family, a compact crossover SUV known as the Mazda CX-5. Already teased at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show, the new model is the first to embody a design theme referred to as "KODO-Soul of Motion" and will be released in spring of next year. Following the updated CX-5 debut, Mazda will release redesigns of the MAZDA3, Mazda MX-5 Miata and Mazda CX-9 in 2013. The automaker's Senior VP of U.S. ops confirmed such plans in a recent interview with Automotive News.

In addition to both interior and exterior updates, the four models will be rolled out on new lightweight platforms.  Each vehicle drivetrain will see a hefty bump in power as well as an impressive increase in fuel economy. Even more exciting than the new features themselves, is the fact that the upcoming redesigns will be developed solely by and made exclusively for Mazda. This means no more Ford influence or platform-sharing.

Of course, the automaker isn't calling it quits in 2014. Mazda will continue to work on consistently refreshing its brand with features such as stop-start, regenerative braking and hybrid technology already in the plans for 2016.

As jazzed about new Mazda plans as we are? If the answer is yes, Flight-Line Mazda invites you to stop by 1350 E 32nd St Yuma, AZ 85365 and talk with us in person. We are always happy to spend time conversing about the brand we love most with other dedicated Mazda fans!
